A Shade Too Close

October 26, 2008 at 7:19 pm (Uncategorized)

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve been going over the finer points of shading.  We covered all the classics, such as stippling, cross hatching and the sins of smudging.

We then started our still life series.  I set up 5 tables with different still life pieces.  We are still working on these, but I like what I have been seeing.

The Edible Color Wheel Blues

October 11, 2008 at 6:33 pm (Uncategorized)

So this week I wanted the students to actually start creating while learning the foundations.  I’ve been reading other lesson plans and I decided I would give the Edible Color Wheel.  After describing the color wheel and complementary and analogous colors, I allowed the students some time to experiment with mixing paints.  Later in the week I unleashed the Edible Color Wheel assignment on the class.  Huge success for the students…minor headache for yours truly.  I’m glad the students enjoyed themselves and they even got creative with the food used in the color wheel.

Technology and Creativity Meet

October 4, 2008 at 5:40 pm (Uncategorized)

I really want to incorporate iStopMotion into my class after reading this blog post from Goochland County Schools in Virginia.  Look how they used simple claymation technology in their class.  Give me ideas to say the least.
